Eddy DeCosta - The Job Candidate
Archetype: The Rebuilder
The Rebuilder is someone recovering from a professional rupture. Their archetype is not defined by victimhood, but by the courageous pursuit of reconstruction. They don’t need “reinvention” in the abstract. They need a bridge between what they’ve lost and what they can become.
Explore AILKEMY Archetypes
Eddy needs narrative-rich clarity in a time of personal and systemic upheaval. He’s not just learning about the future. He’s living with disruption. AILKEMY becomes his compass: a place where stories of systems thinking, human-AI collaboration, and role reinvention provide him with the tools and language to rebuild relevance.
The Pattern That Guides The Journey
In AILKEMY, an Archetype isn’t a role. It’s a pattern, a recurring story of how someone meets change head-on. It’s how you think, lead, and move through the fog when the map no longer applies. These aren’t surface-level personas. They’re deep reflections of how you carry the weight of what’s next. We write with that weight in mind, because you’re not looking for fluff. You’re here for tools that fit the reality you live in.

“A Story for Anyone Who Lost Their Job to AI”
When the Autonomous AI Agents Let Me Go
I didn’t see it coming. That’s what they all say, right? But I really didn’t...
One day, I was logging in to my team’s Slack thread, reviewing product feedback, and cleaning up a few automation reports. Next, I was sitting in a Zoom room with HR telling me that my "role had been made redundant due to AI efficiency gains."
WTF.
It wasn’t personal. That’s what they told me. But it felt personal.
Because the work I gave everything to? It moved on without me.
My badge deactivated before my feelings did. And what came next wasn’t a flurry of interviews or new opportunities. It was silence. Ghost town silence.
Not Broken. Just Not Belonging Anymore.
I’m not afraid of hard work. I had the degree. I had experience. I had built processes, documented systems, and led initiatives no one wanted to own. But none of that mattered in a world where AI now "did it faster."
I thought I was tech-forward. I was proud of that. But suddenly, the tech moved without me. Past me. It wasn’t just about losing a paycheck. It was about losing a sense of place. I couldn’t even explain what I did anymore, not in a way that made me feel seen.
People offered advice.
"Take a course." "Get on LinkedIn." "Just pivot."
But that advice landed like static.
I didn’t need another platitude. I needed a pathway. A framework. A reason to believe there was something left in me worth hiring.
The Night I Found a Map
It was 2:37 AM when I found AILKEMY. I wasn’t searching for a newsletter. I was searching for proof that I wasn’t the only one unraveling quietly behind a screen. But what I read didn’t coddle me. It didn’t pity me either. It gave language to the chaos.
"You didn’t fail. The rules changed."
Those words cracked something open. The issue wasn’t just about getting another job. It was about rebuilding myself intentionally. This wasn’t a moment to hustle. It was a moment to reckon, to choose a new architecture for my future.
Tiny Actions, Big Resistance
I didn’t reinvent overnight. Hell, some days I barely get out of bed. But I started showing up to myself in small ways. One tiny project. One cold message. One saved job link I might apply to.
I rewrote my story, not for recruiters, but for me. I stopped seeing my layoff as a gap and started calling it what it was: a forced invitation to think bigger.
I sketched my skills like puzzle pieces. I learned how to prompt AI systems more effectively than I had at work. I wasn’t trying to become a developer.
I was becoming something new: a hybrid.
A bridge. A builder of what comes next.
Relearning My Worth, Without the Résumé
There was a moment—I remember it clearly—when someone on LinkedIn messaged me: "The way you explained that use case? That’s the clearest I’ve ever heard it."
And I realized: Oh. I still have value.
My words were the product. My lens was the differentiator. It wasn’t about being the most technical or the most experienced. It was about being the most relevant. And relevance comes from clarity, not credentials.
I stopped leading with my job title. I started leading with what I solve.
From Lost to In-Demand
The first contract gig came from someone who read my post about prompt frameworks. Then came a coaching request from a peer trying to navigate the same fog. Then, a paid workshop with a bootstrapped team trying to figure out what their AI stack even meant.
I wasn’t just working again. I was building again.
But this time, on foundations that couldn’t be automated:
Clarity, empathy, pattern recognition, and systems fluency.
I Am Not the Same. And That’s My Superpower.
It took losing the role to gain the revelation: I was never meant to fit a box. I was meant to redesign the blueprint. AI didn’t erase my value. It clarified it.
Today, I don’t call myself a "job seeker."
I consider myself a system-aware professional in a state of continuous evolution.
Because that’s what I am. And if the world needs anything right now, it’s people who can adapt without unraveling.
What I Know Now That No One Told Me
The career ladder is broken. But the lattice is yours to design.
Skills matter, but a compelling story gets you noticed.
The best systems thinkers are often those who have had to rebuild from scratch.
There’s no shame in grieving your past. But don’t stay there.
The people who seem to have it all together? They’re faking it, too.
If You’re in the Rubble, You’re Not Alone.
If you're reading this with tears dried on your face, wondering if you matter anymore, I need you to hear me: you do. You’re not too late. You’re right on time.
Displacement doesn’t define you. What you build from here does.
Don’t waste your pain. Reconstruct it. Translate it.
Let it inform the future that you’re still worthy of being a designer.
Why I Read AILKEMY. And Why You Should Too.
I don’t subscribe to fluff. I don’t need another listicle or this “AI tool will blow your mind…” Consider my mind blown.
I need clarity. Context. Strategy. I need someone who knows that rebuilding isn’t about finding the next job. It’s about becoming the next version of you.
AILKEMY is that for me. And maybe, just maybe, it’s that for you, too.
You won’t just read it. You’ll see yourself in it.
Evolving.
